Mayors sign on to support SHAPE
Several of the state’s mayors are voicing support for Georgia SHAPE, including Valdosta mayor John Gayle. Gayle recently promoted the initiative to staff at the Mildred Hunter Community Center in Valdosta, emphasizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle and praising them for offering exercise classes and other fitness opportunities. Groups donate $46,000 in fitness equipment
Good Sports, Inc. and the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation (AFYF) have awarded $46,000 worth of athletic equipment to 17 community organizations working to improve youth fitness, reduce childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles for Georgia’s youth. Over their three-year partnership, Good Sports, Inc. and AFYF have donated nearly $300,000 worth of fitness and sports equipment across Georgia. Good Sports partners with AFYF to provide equipment donations that increase opportunities for low-income youth to participate in regular physical activity.
