Outdoor Workout Zones Bring Fitness to Atlanta Parks
A dozen Atlanta parks have been transformed into outdoor gyms, giving local residents the chance to work out for free, according to a Fox 5 Atlanta report . The Atlanta City Parks Department worked with local neighborhood associations to raise money to buy circuit training equipment for their community parks. $88,000 to Fight Childhood Obesity
Georgia SHAPE School Grants Awarded The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) and the Governor’s SHAPE Initiative are pleased to announce that 20 schools have received a total of $88,000 in Georgia SHAPE school grants. The schools include elementary, middle and high schools throughout the state. Fourteen schools received up to $5,000 each to implement or improve physical activity and nutrition plans. Those plans are determined by health-related school assessments that prioritize the schools’ needs. The money will also be used for training and technical assistance. Coca-Cola Awards $1 Million to Georgia SHAPE
Contribution will help add 30 minutes of physical activity to Georgia school days The Coca-Cola Company is giving $1 million to Georgia SHAPE to help fight childhood obesity in Georgia.
